Background
 The background of an image is one of the most overlooked aspects of composition for new photographers. We often get so enraptured with the subject that we lose all sense of everything else in the photograph. With the image to the right, the photographer is so focused on the flowers that little else in the picture captures his attention. The elements behind the subject are distracting. The flower on the left has a clean dark background that helps bring out the color and form making for a much stronger simpler image. The image on the left is much easier to look at and to focus upon. Often times just a slight adjustment can make all the difference in the world. Be aware of the background at all times. |
