4:  Light

The two photo's above show how light effects a photograph in a similar situation.  At what hour you photograph and under what weather conditions can change an image drastically.  Warm soft light generally occurs at sunrise and sunset or just before and just after.  Bright cloudy days are excellent conditions when an even light is needed to photograph people or close-ups of flowers, etc.  On clear days mid day light creates harsh shadows which causes high contrast and this type of exposure is very difficult for cameras to handle the way the human eye does.  And stormy weather is quite often the best of all times to be out there because the light though brief can be very dramatic.  Experiment under all conditions and learn how the camera reacts to the light.
