6:  Motion



Motion conveys energy in a photograph.  It gives the viewer a different sense of what was really happening at that moment.  It expresses a completely different idea than if the photo was perfectly in focus.  Panning is a technique that I used in the image above along with a slightly slower shutter speed than what would be needed to get a sharp image of the birds to allow a small amount of blur.  To pan you simply move the camera along with the subject rather than staying still and snapping the shutter.
