8:  Travelling with a digital camera

YouTube Video:  10 Tips on Travel Photography

Travel with a Digital Camera:  Batteries and Image File Storage are the two primary concerns -
Batteries:  It is a good idea to always have an absolute minimum of two batteries.  Most digital cameras have a proprietary battery, a battery that only works with that particular camera, as compared to AA batteries that can be used on many devices.  So it is not practical if your battery runs out to just pop down to the local store to get an additional battery.  And when you travel you need access to either an electrical outlet, a car adapter, or solar panels.  A film camera still has advantages in the field when you don't have access to a convenient power source.  Things that can help reduce power usage of your battery is to turn off the lcd screen of your camera or use it minimally, manual focus instead of auto focus, and keep the batteries warm in cold weather.
Storage of your images:  the options have improved greatly in the last couple of years when you travel.  You can now simply take enough memory cards to cover the trip because they have dramatically increased in storage size and come down in price.  But you may still want to invest in a PSD(Portable Storage Device).  Many offer screens to view the images, and they can serve as a back-up to your memory cards as well.
